Barbara

Dress - Barbara Hulanicki for Topshop
Blazer - Topshop
Shoes - eBay
Watch - Sekonda

I spent months trailing eBay for this Barbara Hulanicki for Topshop dress. I remember when it was first released and I never managed to get my hands on it for one reason or another so when I finally seen it at a reasonable price, I snapped it up. The one downside? It's ridiculously short which means a) having to wear a garment underneath it or b) strictly reserving it for nights out. Either way, I paired it with this Topshop oversized blazer I purchased yesterday. I love how this blazer gives you the option of tying it in the middle to create a waist or just keeping it loose and baggy if you're feeling more of a tailored look. I know this is a staple piece I'm going to keep for years to come.

Happy Leap Day!

A Month in Pictures

Kicking off the month by continuing with my healthy eating. This results in declicious chicken salads followed by brand new shoes. Visiting memorials. Pretending to be Dorothy in my glitter boots. Metallic collars. Snakeskin and studs.

The month began with an unanticipated snow visit that left me curled up with a hot water bottle for atleast 3 days. I began falling back in love with my SLR. Cooking scumptious (yet healthy!) food. Receiving my first bouquet of beautiful roses for Valentine's. Rediscovering my Barbara Hulanicki dress. Lounging in bed with this month's Elle magazine.

Breathtaking sunsets above the Salford Quay's skyline. Crisp, white snow invading my garden. Candlelit dinners for two. Indulging in my favourite Disney movies. Obligatory pancakes on pancake day. Obsessed with wearing yellow.

I hope this short month has been good to you all!

YELLOW

Jumper - Topshop
Maxi Skirt - Topshop
Shoes - Ebay
Ring - YSL

Yellow can be a very risky
colour when it comes to dressing. I spotted this neon yellow jumper in Topshop and decided to be courageous and buy it (it went into the sale three days later, boo!). There hasn't been a day gone by (well, give or take a few), that I haven't worn this cropped jumper. It's ideal for brightening up a dull outfit and for clashing with other pieces in your wardrobe. I opted for my metallic maxi skirt today and a ridiculously high pair of shoes to go with this yellow jumper. I always feel very grown up in this maxi skirt, no idea why!

HIBISCUS

Dress - ASOS
Watch - Sekonda

Something snapped inside me as soon as I seen this dress on ASOS. I HAD to have it. I even set about finally getting round to selling items on eBay just so I could afford it and boy was it worth it.

The bright, hibiscus print is so eye catching and I love that it comes with a button up collar so I can still maintain my structured/boyish way of dressing. The material is so loose and baggy; perfect for curling up in on rainy days when I'm dreaming of summer. I plan to pair this with my ancient leather jacket and pink tipped brogues when it eventually becomes bearable to get the bare legs out!

I'm excited for a weekend filled with food, sleep and a good book. Wow, I sound old.

Love, Fi.

Skinny Jeans - Topshop
Top - Topshop
Black furry jacket - Topshop
Studded ballet flats - Topshop
Silver collar - ASOS
Watch - Sekonda

With a big gulp of courage, I decided to reawaken my blog and get back to what I love the most - writing!

I spent most of my day arranging flowers in my room, making countless trips to the post office and trying to find the perfect lighting to take some photos with. I must admit, it gets incredibly boring taking photos of yourself all day.

I spent a lot of time sitting in the upstairs 'book nook' gazing down at the street and the distant Manchester buildings, reflecting on 2012 and what a good year it's been so far.

I've managed to lose 11lbs on a calorie controlled diet, I bought my first car and I became fashion editor for my university's website. Long may this streak of good luck continue.

I finally plucked up the courage to purchase these skinny snakeskin jeans after they went down to half price in the Christmas sales. I took this as a sign that they had to be mine so ching ching and they were! I still get the odd funny look nearly every time I wear them but I just laugh it off. I paired them with this over sized shaggy coat from Topshop which instantly gives me that Mary Kate Olsen asthetic - baggy and dishevelled, yet glamorous. I also purchased this silver detachable collar in the ASOS sale. It's now my go-to accessory when I'm feeling a little kooky.

I hope you've all had a good start to the week!

Love, Fi.
